This rustic journal cover belongs to our Coraggio collection, and features our Scallop design.

For the writer in all of us, this 5.75" x 9.25" journal cover is the lifelong companion you can use for all your future journals. Measuring 9.25" tall, and 11.75" when opened, this cover comes with an internal journal, and then can be refilled with a new one when you're ready! With a wrap-around leather strap, each journal cover includes a strap that is used to keep it held together while you travel! Crafted from 100% soft, genuine leather, each one comes in differing shades and patterns - no two are the same. The included inside journal comes with a tag of the artisan’s name that personally crafted your journal and has around 100 pages of standard-ruled paper. They are designed and engraved in our Steubenville, OH workshop.

Hand-crafted in Honduras, these leather journals were created by the individuals at Lazarus Artisan Goods. Through this ministry, men and women are taught to make high quality goods while receiving sustainable wages, health-care, and an education. Their goal is to not only help their workers financially, but to teach them to find dignity and purpose in all that they do.

These journals are only available while supplies last.

[Coraggio Design - Scallop]
The scallop shell is a symbol of St. James the Great, an apostle and the patron saint of Spain. One legend claims that when St. James was denounced for his religion and executed, his body was placed in a boat to drift away at sea. The boat miraculously drifted back to the coast of Spain, his home country. Those who found the boat claimed that the hull of the boat was covered in scallop shells. Since then, scallops have been used as a symbol of pilgrimage, their imaged being used to mark paths and point pilgrims in the right direction. In the Middle Ages, pilgrims traveling to Santiago de Compostela would collect scallops as proof their journey, decorating their hats, clothes, or making simple necklaces from them, to show everyone their dedication to the pilgrimage. Show your own dedication to the cause of spreading the word of the Lord with this scallop design!

Once, as Pope St. John Paul II battled illness, a Capuchin friar stood below his window with a fist in the sky and shouted, "Coraggio! (Courage!)". Inspired by this story, Catholic to the Max has partnered with the Lazarus Artisan Shop in Honduras to bring you this fair-trade, hand-crafted leather item. May it give you the courage for the adventure of an authentic Christian life!

Both we at Catholic to the Max and Mission Lazarus thank you for helping support our teams of talented individuals.
