Adorn a locker, classroom, dorm room, or workspace with our Venerable Pierre Toussaint poster! Learn about and ask for the intercession of this heroic Venerable who was a slave and entered the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony.

Venerable Pierre Toussaint was born a slave in Saint Domingue in 1766. He was chosen to work inside the Berard mansion, performing the duties of a valet while growing up with his master's children. Through riots and uprisings, Pierre was taken with his master's family to Paris and then to New York City under the Berard's son. There, he experienced persecution both for his skin color as well as for being Catholic. His master had Pierre learn the trade of hairdressing, and Pierre provided for his master's family after the master died through this. Pierre would go to early morning Mass and then head to a long workday. After being freed, he bought the freedom of his sister and a slave woman from Saint Domingue, who he later married. Together, they were unable to have children of their own but ended up adoption his sister's daughter and taking in children off the street. May this venerable teach us the way of being a simple hero: to free those without a home through love.

Designed and printed in Steubenville, Ohio, this poster is ideal for church walls and displays, Catholic schools, homes, and Catholic business's. Teach the faith to your children, your parish or yourself with our catechetical posters!
