This Italian saint is known for his conformity to and desire for God's holy will. At a young age, he began doing acts of penance out of love for our Lord. With his sacrifice of self-will came an ardent longing for Christ in the Eucharist. However, he was not yet of age to receive. Instead, St. Michael and the Christ Child were known to give little Gerard Communion when the priest passed him over. He continued to surrender to God's holy will in his job as a tailor and in his service to a cruel bishop. After pursuing the Redemptorists (St. Alphonsus Liguori's religious order), he was finally allowed to enter and continued to follow God's will through the demands of his superiors. The superiors had to be careful what they said due to Gerard following them so precisely! St. Gerard died at the age of 29 but also miraculously aided an ill mother in delivering her child. Use this poster to spread St. Gerard's example of abandonment to the Divine Will and his powerful intercession for mothers and their unborn children.
