The bookends are made from stone-cast alabaster here in our shop in Steubenville, Ohio. Alabaster is a building and decorating material created from the mineral gypsum that has been used since the time of the ancient Egyptian Pharaohs. It boasts an attractive smooth finish.
Each measures roughly 6" x 8", including the 4"x 6" inset image plaque, and is 3" deep.

Pretty but slide too easily
These are beautiful. They arrived safely in the box and included in the box were two "cardboard" pieces measuring about 3"X 8". These cardboards had peel off adhesive on them with no instructions of what to do with them. I was hoping the bookends would be a little heavier to keep the books from sliding. They are truly beautiful but not very functional.
