These alabaster bookends honor the preacher and convert St. Paul. Keeping heavy books in line, they both organize and decorate your home. This pair of bookends makes the perfect personal gift for all converts, those in ministry, and anyone with a devotion to this great saint.
The fresco, St. Paul Visiting St. Peter in Prision, is by acclaimed Italian Renaissance Renaissance artist Fillipino Lippi, and housed in the Brancacci Chapel in Florence, Italy. The prayer was written for the 2008 Jubilee Year of St. Paul the Apostle.
The bookends are made from stone-cast alabaster here in our shop in Steubenville, Ohio. Alabaster is a building and decorating material created from the mineral gypsum that has been used since the time of the ancient Egyptian Pharaohs. It boasts an attractive smooth finish.
Each measures roughly 6" x 8", including the 4"x 6" inset image plaque, and is 3" deep.
Text reads:
"Prayer to the Apostle St. Paul
Glorious Saint Paul, Most zealous Apostle, Martyr for the love of Christ, give us a deep faith, a steadfast hope, a burning love for our Lord so that we can proclaim with you, 'It is no longer I who live, but Christ who loves in me.' Help us to witness to the light of Christ amidst the darkness of our days.
