These alabaster bookends feature the Memorare prayer with the recently rediscovered Notre Dame des Anges, or, "Our Lady of the Angels." Keeping heavy books in line, they both organize and decorate your home. This pair of bookends makes the perfect personal gift for those with Marian devotions.
This painting by Catholic master artist William Adolphe Bouguereau was debuted at the Chicago World Fair in 1893. The original and all colored prints were later lost for decades. Back in its original nobility, this image gracefully speaks Mary and Jesus's humble yet majestic glory as Queen and King of the Angels.
The bookends are made from stone-cast alabaster here in our shop in Steubenville, Ohio. Alabaster is a building and decorating material created from the mineral gypsum that has been used since the time of the ancient Egyptian Pharaohs. It boasts an attractive smooth finish and will last for years to come.
Each measures roughly 6" x 8", including the 4"x 6" inset image plaque, and is 3" deep.
Text reads:
"Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen."
