These alabaster bookends St. Hubert, the patron saint of hunters, at his conversion. Keeping heavy books in line, they both organize and decorate your home. This pair of bookends makes the perfect personal gift for the hunter and nature lover in your family.

The original "Conversion of St. Hubert" is a 15th century late Medieval German painting done for the altarpiece of the Benedictine Abbey of Werden. St. Hubert lived a decadent lifestyle and was obsessed with hunting. During a chase, the stag turned and faced Hubert, and he saw Christ Crucified between it's antlers. He then heard a warning that he must repent, for his soul was in peril of damnation. Hubert changed from a selfish noble to a servant of the poor and eventually a bishop.

The bookends are made from stone-cast alabaster here in our shop in Steubenville, Ohio. Alabaster is a building and decorating material created from the mineral gypsum that has been used since the time of the ancient Egyptian Pharaohs. It boasts an attractive smooth finish and will last for years to come.

Each measures roughly 6" x 8", including the 4"x 6" inset image plaque, and is 3" deep.

Text reads:

"St. Hubert, patron saint of hunters, pray for us."
