These alabaster bookends features Mary, Madonna of the Host. Keeping heavy books in line, they both organize and decorate your home. This pair of bookends makes the perfect personal First Communion gift, and makes and excellent present to anyone with a special devotion to Our Lady and the Holy Eucharist.
This vibrant painting is by French Neoclassical artist Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres. It gracefully speaks Mary's tender love for her Son, Jesus. The short prayer places you in a meditative mood before Holy Communion.
The bookends are made from stone-cast alabaster here in our shop in Steubenville, Ohio. Alabaster is a building and decorating material created from the mineral gypsum that has been used since the time of the ancient Egyptian Pharaohs. It boasts an attractive smooth finish and will last for years to come.
Each measures roughly 6" x 8", including the 4"x 6" inset image plaque, and is 3" deep.
Text reads:
"O Mother of the Most Holy Eucharist, teach us how to assist at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, how to Communicate worthily, and how t visit frequently and piously the Most Holy Sacrament."
