Mary Undoer of KnotsNote: Dimensions below apply to shipping information. Extra product info can be found in the description.
These alabaster bookends feature Mary, Undoer of Knots and a prayer to Our Lady. Keeping heavy books in line, they both organize and decorate your home and make the perfect personal Marian gift for all with devotions to the Blessed Mother.
The original painting was commissioned in 1700 by Fr. Hieronymus Langenmantel. His grandfather, a German nobleman in the 1600's went to Jesuit priest Fr. Jakob Rem for advice on how to save his troubled marriage. Fr. Rem took the couple's wedding ribbon and untied the knots before an image of the Blessed Mother. When the last knot was untied, the ribbon became dazzling white. The nobleman's wife did not leave him, and the two remained happily married to Mary's intercession!
The bookends are made from stone-cast alabaster here in our shop in Steubenville, Ohio. Alabaster is a building and decorating material created from the mineral gypsum that has been used since the time of the ancient Egyptian Pharaohs. It boasts an attractive smooth finish and will last for years to come.
Each measures roughly 6" x 8", including the 4"x 6" inset image plaque, and is 3" deep.
Text reads:
"Mother of fair love, I look to you. Take into your hands the ribbon of my life and see the snarl of knots that keeps me bound t sin, anxiety, and hopelessness.
I beg you, Mother, by your powerful intercession, and the long fingers of love and grace, undo the knots in my heart and in my life. Free me to love as Christ loves.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for us."
