MaryNote: Dimensions below apply to shipping information. Extra product info can be found in the description.
This reproduction of Piotr Stachiewicz's "The Singer of the Mother of God" shows Mary seated upon the Davidic throne with roses and a little bird at her feet. Above her is a translucent image of her crucified Son.
According to Polish legend, during the three years of Jesus' public ministry a little lark would tell his mother news of Him every day. This little lark came to love our Lord and, to spare Him at least a little bit of suffering on the cross, took a thorn out of Our Savior's crown. So the lark became well loved by the Mother of God. This picture shows the little lark singing songs of love and gratitude before her throne in heaven.
The artist, Piotr Stachiewicz (1858-1938), was a Polish painter known for his portraits, historical scenes, magazine illustrations, and religious works.
This fine art print comes in an ornate wood frame with a dark finish.
