St. PeterNote: Dimensions below apply to shipping information. Extra product info can be found in the description.
This reproduction of "The Liberation of St. Peter" was painted by Raphael in 1514. In it, the Archangel Gabriel, blinding the soldiers with his refulgence, reaches down to free St. Peter from his captivity in Herod's prison. It is part of a larger fresco located in the Vatican.
Raphael was one of the "Triumvirate" from the High Renaissance. He was a young prodigy and had an incredible influence on art history. He was a very hard worker and produced an enormous body of works, with an unusually large team of apprentices assisting him. He died at the young age of 37 from an acute illness brought on by exhaustion.
